I just scheduled an online consultation with the Nagoya clinic for later this month. My Japanese friend is going to join me as my interpreter.
It’ll be through a specific app, rather than through a Zoom link or anything similar. The upfront cost was ¥500 and the consultation cost could be around ¥3000, and last for around 30 minutes.
I uploaded copies of my referrals to the app in preparation and made sure to include a note when booking about what I want to discuss.
I’m very grateful for my friend for helping me out, as I probably would have had to hire an interpreter.
I think I’m going to keep a running total of my surgery-related costs.
I’m excited for the possibility of finally getting things moving forward, but scared that I’ll have to jump through more hoops (like getting a local referral) before I can get surgery.
The previous email from the clinic said that it’ll be up to the doctor if he accepts my referrals or not. 😬
