Last night I had a consultation with a surgeon for bottom surgery, or vaginoplasty.

I wasn’t expecting anything ground-breaking but I came out of that appointment happy.

Turns out I could get surgery within three months! The surgeon said he does the surgery often, so there’s little wait time.

Now I need to decide if I do another semester of school and then get surgery, or just get surgery. I have the savings for both, but if I do both, I’ll for sure need a job soon to recuperate my funds.

I was also considering moving to the Netherlands and trying to get their DAFT visa but with this news, I won’t have the finances to do so. Not unless I get hired and get a regular work visa.

I essentially have until the end of this month to decide. Otherwise I’ll have to try and get surgery in August rather than sooner.

I’m not sure which is the best course of action.

If I stay for another semester, I improve my chances of getting a job here, but Japan is no longer my long term goal (long term means anything past school).

I essentially have until the end of this month to decide so I can have surgery in April or May.

(I wrote up in more detail here about what I learned at the consultation.)
